Unifinished Basement

Finishing your basement is a great way to expand your living space and add value to your home. However, basements can also be damp and prone to flooding at times.

Finished Basement

Being IICRC licensed for water and mold remediation makes us uniquely qualified to assess your basement for moisture before we start your renovation.

Could your basement be too damp to convert into a living space?

“Used Spaces for some basement mitigation following some historic rainfall in early July 2021. Drew and his crew were fantastic to work with during a stressful time. He outlined options for us and let us pick and choose the services we wanted and gave helpful guidance. He was always checking in on us while our basement was being worked on and his crew was respectful and courteous to everyone in my household. They worked fast and the work came out great. Will definitely use them again in the future.”

The 50 Point Moisture Assessment

We start each basement remodeling project with a thorough on-site moisture assessment so you're investment is protected.

We assess ventilation and check for visual signs of moisture and mold, past and present.

Using a special meter, we also check the moisture content in your framing structure. Recommendations for drainage and ventilation mitigation are all part of this assessment.

We also offer this assessment as a stand-alone service for homeowners working with other contractors or in their basement. Get in touch

To ensure maximum dryness, we encourage all customers who may have had previous water damage in their basement to consider sump pump and or French drain installation before investing in a basement remodel.

Building to code

Did you know when you add a room to your basement, it’s considered a bedroom if it has a closet? Therefore, to comply with local town ordinances, there must be two points of egress.

Proper ventilation must be taken into account when building around basement mechanical components. You can’t just slap in walls around a water heater or a boiler without carefully considering safety specifications.

These are just some of the ways you can depend on us to ensure your project is built to code. You will get your certificate of occupancy from the town, and you’ll be relieved that you had a competent team looking out for your interests.

Permits, local ordinances, and inspections

We often pull permits for clients to save them the hassle. Acquiring a permit also means the town will inspect the work. So it’s critical that rules are followed, and the work is done correctly.

IICRC Certified

Spaces LLC has all of the skilled tradespeople you will need to complete your project.

An IICRC-certified team member will assess the job site before work is carried out. We will also ensure your basement has suitable mitigation systems in place to protect your newly remodeled basement from moisture and water damage.
